Ph: Life: Good Morning Dear Friend Poem by Brian Johnston

Ph: Life: Good Morning Dear Friend

Rating: 5.0

Good morning, dear friend, that I never may meet
Though my doggerel verse finds its way to your feet
Should my thoughts not elicit a tear or a smile,
May you still feel some warmth or find rest for a while!

I'm sorry I missed you, if miss you, I did,
May my poems still bless though if I'm in Madrid,
And cement a connection that binds us for years,
Oh, may sharing assuage though life brings all to tears.

Might Hamlet be right and the world's just a stage?
Are we all human butterflies sipping at sage (1)
As we dance life's 'what is' and we sing our 'I AM's?
Are all friendships, in general, self-serving scams?

Oh let me resist any gain, only share,
And attribute to God grain of truth you find where
All my musing might lead, if truth's found there indeed,
May what pollen you find serve to bring forth new seed!

Poet's note:
(1)The sage flower has no nectar and so is mainly visited by bees that
eat the pollen as a primary source of protein. Pollen lays no role in the
production of honey that comes only from nectar.

I like to think we're all bound together by invisible little strings. Friends always tug on each other's strings to remind the other that they are being thought of and need never feel alone. Sincere friendships are not self-serving, nor are they scams. Each person benefits in some way. A lovely poem that outlines the importance of friendship.
