Perfection Kills Poem by Virginia Williams

Perfection Kills

What is perfection?
And why do we all seek perfection?
They say perfection is something or someone with absolutely no mistakes or flaws.
We seek perfection to be accepted by society and our peers.
Some people would kill themselves to find perfection and acceptance.
Some people actually DO kill themselves when searching for perfection and acceptance!
Why do we as society expect perfection from people?
Is it worth having people beat themselves up, hurt themselves, and possibly kill themselves over, because we as society tell them that we want perfection from them?
The real meaning of perfection is something or someone that has mistakes and flaws.
Every little mistake, flaw, and imperfection is what makes something or someone unique, making them perfect.
By telling someone they need to be perfect is basically telling them they need to be something/someone they NEVER will be and NEVER can be!
The need and obsession to be perfect is a disease, a disorder, and a drug.
Perfection kills.
