Perfection (Amberly ©2/20/2013) Poem by Amberly Orlando

Perfection (Amberly ©2/20/2013)

I tried to create a beautiful butterfly with the wings of an angel,
but it was clumsy and awkward.
So I shaped it into something more manageable with the wings of fairies and it was perfection.

but you saw...

I then created lovely flowers with the stems of sycamore trees,
but they outgrew the size of my garden
So I pruned the bases away to make them smaller and it was perfection.

but you saw...

I wrote a song of a thousand emotions and sang it from the bottom of my heart,
but the world began to weep
So I only sang of peace, love, and serenity and it was perfection.

but you saw...

You saw butterflies that soared like angels
perching on branches of roses and daisies that towered over even the highest mountains.
You heard a song that moved the oceans
and a world that cried rivers bringing life to the limitless possibilities that I could ever hope to create.

If only I could have seen it the way you had.
In your eyes I was always perfection.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this poem after falling in love with someone very close to me. Someone who made me realize that who I am is special and perfect in his eyes, no matter what anyone else has ever said... including myself. He helped me to love myself again after years of abuse. Or as he likes to say... he didn't do anything other than show me how to see for myself all the things he's always loved about me.
