Perception Poem by natalie ricketts

Perception

Rating: 4.5

for some reason people are drawn to me
they comment on the way i look
like there looking at the cover of a glistning book
but instead of reading the blurbs
to find out whats inside
they just put me on a pedestal
that's very high
then when the illusion of me
is shown for what it is
a false perception
its me that has to fall
and try to land on my feet
never wanted to be an Object of desire
want to feel love, not lust
i want that someone
i can understand and trust
it takes time to really know
yet after that first meet
you all think you know
how i work
what i think
and what makes me happy
i don't second guess people
so don't second guess me?
