People Have To Live Their Own Lives Poem by Ana Monnar

People Have To Live Their Own Lives

‘Twas minutes before the wedding
Gorgeous preparations in place
Father and bride talk – entering
“You are still in time, walk away.”
I am sure I’m going though this
People have to live their own lives
Inward bound both walk down the isle
Family and friends gently smile
Not a one had a big sad frown
After the promise and a kiss
Both husband and wife became one
Roses, candles, music playing
Hot dinner, drinks, photograph too
Decades together – love unites
Through good quality and bad times
‘Til death do us part no man can
tear – separate no matter what
