Paternity Poem by Ima Ryma

Paternity

A hospital has a machine
That transfers birthing pain from Mom
To Dad, at first Dad's not too keen,
But wants to help and so stays calm
As Mom and Dad are both hooked to
This machine, and the couple wait
For their baby to be born new,
Both ready to participate.
Time goes by, neither Mom nor Dad
Are feeling any pain at all,
And the couple are really glad.
Mystified are the staff on call.

A healthy baby they attain.
Meanwhile their mailman screams in pain.
