Past, Present And Future. Where Are You Living? Poem by Maddie Shanahan

Past, Present And Future. Where Are You Living?

Rating: 4.8

Seems like only a few days ago
In with the wind, something blew
We welcomed the first few
But then out came the entire crew.

We wanted to share the land
But they were too greedy
They took our land from us
Doing this they were speedy.

They killed my brothers
My family all disappeared
I saw what they did to those who were bad
Of them, I was feared

They killed without mercy
The animals perished, I almost died
With lack of food and culture
It was so sad that I always cried

That was long ago though
Their ways have changed
The words, more painful than death
We are all estranged.

The colour of our skin
We should not be judged by
Our past can stay in the past
But for the past some cannot deny.

This a good piece. Keep it up! As you go about building your business, keep this old saying in mind… Watch your thoughts: They become your words. Watch your words: They become your actions. Watch your actions: They become your habits. Watch your habits: They become your character. Watch your character: It becomes your destiny. Start with the right thoughts and you'll end up with the destiny that you want.

Very nicely delivered work, Maddie...Rhythm & Rhyme employs spot-on syncopation...Mellifluous structuing...Solid craftsmanship, indeed. FjR
