Passing On Poem by Naomi Waters

Passing On

The clock has chimed
My time is out
I feel the cold hand of death reach out to embrace mine
It is said your life flashes before your eyes
As the end closes in on you
But as I pass into death
I hold back against my past
I have no consideration for those left I abandoned
There are those souls who feel as if their not yet done
Still to in love with life to let it go
I am not one of them
What lies ahead has more promise for me
Then what rests in my memories
Death is not without compassion
It has given me the peace that I have been denied
My only wish is to be assured
That at least someone will be left
To remember my story
I dont know to where I go now
Where ever it is
I am certain that it is better
Than the place I run from
Life perhaps is a test
Passing on is a trial
