Parted Souls Poem by Aamir Abdullah

Parted Souls

Rating: 5.0

PARTED SOUL

Parted souls walking through the streets
Speak of nothingness
Scream and mourn
For their flesh and their bodies
Cry on their nakedness
Ask, ask and ask again
From the dust, from the wind
From the blazing sun
Who they are....?

Leaning from the casements
Whores, into a state of carnality
Call them in their lustful voices
They all spell bound
Rush towards aphrodisiac scents
Of the sweat
Dripping behind the lingeries
Nakedness fornicates the nakedness
Blinded by the billed visions
Shed xanthus tears
Tears, which soil refuses to absorb
Flow through drains
Along with filth and garbage

Parted souls walking through the streets
Pass when
through the men and the women
And the children, bathed in innocence
Streets become deserted
Disappear all the colors and the fragrances and the smiles
Houses with their doors shut
Painted black
Cachinnate and howl
Turn into wraiths
Shadows, shadows all around
Rush to swallow
Tarnished souls

Souls, souls, dirty souls
Want to ask a question
Will that dog
licking its open wounds, reply
Or that bare, stiff trunk
Of the lifeless tree
Can respond to the question
Or that filthy water
Flowing through the drains
Has an answer in its splash

Souls, souls dirty souls
Want to ask a question
Houses with their doors shut
Painted black
Cachinnate and howl

There, yes there
On the last corner of the street
After the long silent night
When a misty morning
oozing under a lamp post
Wakes up with the
crackle of a metallic gate
There, yes there
On the last corner of the street
Souls, dirty souls
Who want to ask a question
Found Lying dead with the offals

Houses are clean
And the streets are crowded
With the men and thewomen
And the children, bathed in innocence........
But the question is still to be answered! ! ! !
