Paradox Of Shadows Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Paradox Of Shadows

Seek me in the shadows
That for which I am stuck
Sucked deeply in thoughts
Sharp penetrating ponders
Racing around and around
Nonstop action abundance
Of personal distance
Avoiding pleasure
As pain becomes more reliable
Undefinably liable
In the faults
The flaws, the errors within me

The rays of hope fade
Icy stoic spectrums
Spreading beyond
The mileage
So redundant
Mired
Dissolved desire
Fornicating thoughts
Bent
As each heartbeat misses
Never hitting the target
Of reassurance

Fickle motion
Phantom devotion
Cobwebbed illusions
Foggy conclusions
Pentacle shaped misery
Carving up a hallow season
Entering the witching hour's burden
Torrid to the point of confusion

Fighting for the light
The quiescence of ethereal dreams
Peace and prosperity
Warmth and love
Knowledge of the future
As the past scratches and crawls
Towards a new beginning

So much pain
Always sifting around
Safety net full of razors
Depression, A box
That has trapped these thoughts in self-decay

Must burn it all away
The search for passion begins
Past still reminds me, I cease to exist
Yet, the present screams to go forward
As the future ahead welcomes me with open arms

Barefoot and walking
On a fiery road of despair
Struggling with not much in life
New pain starting
Dreaming
Of releasing myself for good

Crying inside
They cannot see these emotions
Spent too much time squandering
Myself with the wrong kind of devotion

Inside the shadows
Reside punishing thoughts
Self-mental fornication
Dimming all hope and dreams ahead

Battling each war
Of self-exploitation
Hidden in the dark
In love with the light
The beauty for which
Every beat of this heart beats in unison

Seek me in the shadows
Judge not how I live
Depression, Such vile Demons
Slaying each one
Till they are all gone
Slowly but surely

Stare upon these eyes
Mirror
Let us create light

Oh, Angels of a future's blessing
Fly me high
Take this hope into great new heights

Push me
Like I have never been pushed before

Take these words in strides
Beyond the grey skies
Into the clear blue
Draped magically in sunshine

I mean something…

Somehow, Someway

I have myself after all

Paradox of shadows
I will solve you someday
Someway, Somehow

I become stronger each and every day
How do you like me now?
