Paradise, Not! Poem by Luann Soares Aranha

Paradise, Not!

I sit here
Next to Christ
Underneath the golden sky
Listening to birds
Watching trees dancing from side to side
Thinking
This is Paradise
But at the same moment
I listen to a mother cry
As I watch her child die
Right there
In front of my eyes
I hear their screams for mercy
I hear their prayers
With gunshots in the background I sit there
Asking myself
Why
Why
Why do they like to take others life?
I wish they would dropp the gun
Drop the knife
Instead of hate
It would be Love
I see the man
That you dare to call a tramp
The one you call criminal
The one who is treated differently by society
Just because he live's on the street
You don't even give him the right to dream
You treat him like a prisoner
Even though he's free
I see poverty
And I see the government that does nothing about it
Instead of helping
They spread the misery of war to others
Iv'e had enough of this
We need to do something about it
Let's declare a war
A war of
Love
Peace
Unity
Just like in the 70's
Let's show them we can end it!
