Paper Ship Poem by David Harris

Paper Ship

In the summer of my childhood,
I used to go down to the sea
and sail my paper ship
on each incoming wave.

Often I thought of sailing the sea
its lure always captured me
sailing my paper ship
into the sunset with just my love and I.

To find some deserted isle
where everything in tranquillity lay
leaving all the worries of life
for someone else’s mind.

Oh now those days are gone
and my children have taken my place
to sail their paper ships
to the places in my dreams.
