Pangs Of Distress Poem by Ortiz Antwi

Pangs Of Distress

Life is a 400m race with no rules
Survival of the most greedy
An obdurately vicious mule
With zero commiseration for the needy
The pangs of distress disgorged poverty
The difference in degree from history and naivety
It makes women out of men
No figure is a homely mien
But the image of the pendant yoke of indigence
Rigidly shackled around the neck
So tight we lack the energy to sob or tears to shed
What a remorseless world, a merciless beast
That robs us of joy and atop beat
A world that snatches candy from youngsters
And devour their progenitors and hell
A gulf between the moneyed few and the penniless lot
Nature frets over this imbalance
Polar ice thaws, God's eye scorch, to lance
The cancerous pus
Animals wilder and distant from us
We traverse heaven and hell answer scouring
When it is in-built lurking:
Love can heal the world
Sharing can level the scale of wealth
Love your neighbor as yourself
The only drug for our ailing world
A balm for soothing its cause for writhing, whining, and pining.
