PAK ALI, PENJUAL GULALI

ayam jago berkokok
pertanda hari baru
pakai kopyah biru
baju hijau kokok

duhai susah sungguh
tubuh penat berpeluh
demi anak bersepuluh
tak hendak berlabuh

api menyala merah
wajan panas sudah
air segayung jatuh
gula pasir meluruh

gulali gulali gulaliiiiii!
ayo siapa mau beli?
halal dan pasti legi

gulali gulali gulali gulaliiiii!
hello, what's up baby?
it is good for your body

gulali gulali gulalii!
jangan tipu hati
jangan khianati

gulali gulali gulaliiiii!
sayangi ibu pertiwi
juga rakyat negri ini

susuri empang
licin berlumpur
susuri pinggiran kali
airnya berkilaukilau

berhenti di depan sekolah
dengan tembok retak disana sini
anak anak berhamburan sambut pak ali
' lima ngatus, pak...sewu, pak...pak ali '

lalu dibuatlah gulali berbagai bentuk
burung, kuda, macan, kapal, pesawat
begitu ceria wajah wajah tunas bangsa ini
lugu, jujur dan tak ada yang perlu ditakuti

gulali gulali gulaliiii!
doa restu bagimu
wahai anak anakku

gulali gulai gulaliiii!
comment allez-vous?
merci merci beaucoup

gulali gulali gulaliii!
semoga tetap manis
jiwa raga anak negri

gulali gulali gulali gulaliii!
berkibarlah bendera kami
gemah ripah loh jinawi

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
