A Fallen Leaf Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

A Fallen Leaf

Rating: 2.6

(dedicated to Ms. Lorraine Hunt, a great mezzo-soprano)

a fallen leaf
hugs the roof
a fallen leaf
sends a grief

a fallen leaf
has to leave
a fallen leaf
such relief

a fallen leaf
smiles to me
a fallen leaf
touches me

a fallen leaf
dreams of me
a fallen leaf
loves me

O fallen leaf!
no more, no more
you left me
no more, no more

O fallen leaf!
be with me
wherever
be with me

Even a fallen leaf touches the poet which cannot be apprehended by all! Leaves leave many stories in the hearts of lonely persons. Yours is one instance!

Again an utterance of words about the simplicity of a leaf.

A fallen leaf brings out the warmth and glowing parts of your poem. The repetition makes it even more interesting. A very good write. Your friend Lynn

It is not clear why a fallen leaf loves you? The subject is interesting though.
