Pain Killers Took Another Life Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

Pain Killers Took Another Life

Rating: 4.7

As soon as she sat down
So sad, a mother cried
For a tragic loss of life:
She mourned her daughter's life.

Just before one midnight
They talked on the phone for a while
Her daughter sounded all right
Ready for sleep, she said goodnight.

Few hours after that midnight
She was awakened and terrified.
A phone call that broke the silent night
Brought the news that her daughter just died.

This daughter had a drug addiction:
She was addicted to pain killer pills.
For three months, she was drug-free
That night she relapsed, and drugs killed.
