Out To Pasture Poem by Dean Meredith

Out To Pasture

Rating: 4.5

Sometimes
The gelding resents
The stallion
For he remembers
When he too
Had balls
When fillies
Would jump fences
For him
And he for them
But he can watch
And smile with pity
For now
He is finally free
No more mounting yards
For him
No more work
To be done
Just lazy days
Green fields
And getting fat
The company
Of a shady tree
Him, his flies
And memories
Too few raindrops to feel
Too few sunsets to see
But finally
Finally free
