Our Love Became Etched Forever Poem by Howard Michael Bricker

Our Love Became Etched Forever

Rating: 1.0

We were in love.
It was summer and the world was ours.
We wrapped blankets around us on an isolated beach.
We wrapped our lives into each other for life
We watched the sun come up over the water,
and wanted the days to go on forever
The sun began to rise and set itself motionless upon the horizon,
waiting for lovers to take notice.
Never was there a more beautiful sunrise
Never was there so much love
A love that will last forever strong.

Now I can no longer feel her heartbeat
Nor will I ever be able to kiss and wipe away her tears.
Or ever again taste the wetness of her lips
But forever and ever more our love will endure.
Forever strong!

I kissed her lips once so responding
Tears rolled down my face
my heart pounding with the agony of her leaving me.
I cradled her in my arms,
knowing well that my embrace would not be returned.
Knowing well that she would not return
gently I put her down.
Softly I told her I would love her always.
And our love became etched in the granite of my mind
And our love will remain
Forever strong..

Very strong feelings. Great imagery. A poignant write indeed.
