Other Side Poem by Mary OBrien

Other Side

Meet me on the other side
Where life's only a sunset
That we were only glancing through
Always worrying what to say
And being judged for what we do

Meet me on the other side
Climb through that window
Pull me right through on top of you
Break free from the chains that bound us
Let the light into your eyes

Can you see the difference in my smile,
In my laughter, and my eyes?
No stage beneath our feet
No actions to uphold, nor criticism, no cold.
Do you feel you heart start to slow?

Here we are on the other side
Our hands and lips entwined
There's not a whisper or a verse
Just happiness & laughter is heard

Take me to the other side
Where our eyes tell our story well
And we have no place to hide
Just learning you by my side

Keep me on the other side
Our stories to unfold by the written
Not the righteous, not the judge or the jury
But by you who can only know me
