Orphans Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Orphans

MMillions of elephants in 1900
Lust for ivory starts to take them down
Que balls for pool tables, piano keys
Nicknack's, art works, furnishings
The 1960's says we got to conserve
They are going extinct
Only a million left
Poachers and fat cat vampires
By 1989 600,000 left
Game reserves and zoo's
China rises and has capital
Poachers and the international rich
They leave the babies and kill for tusks
Elephants are very emotional and smart
Money has got no soul
30,000 more killed in 2013 for ivory
Bewildered orphans lost in a game of man
