in the clarity of this lake
Placid as it is called, all the lines
and ripples, even the sky above it
mirrored on the face of its steady
waters, all these, become literal.

it is only when the storm comes when
the clouds are taken away, when the moon
does not appear, in such a catastrophe,
the metaphoric cathartic sporadic and
the nomadic appear,riding on the wings
of the black bird, or on the wings of
another lost Pegasus, or on the feathers
of a swan song, shall then appear before
you, tempting you, to take your life away.
