Only In My Dreams Poem by Denn Meneses

Only In My Dreams

Rain falls gingerly
in the dead of night
creating cacophonic sounds
on the roof.
Above the din
your voice wafts softly
suscitating mute ecastasies
soothing a weary mind.

I grope in the dark
for your hankered touch
but you're not there
only your thoughts are
and I regress
to the murky embers
of depthless slumber
haunted fiercely
by a cryptic smile
refusing to yield.

I bleed for the moments
that would remain unshared
the things undone
the words unsaid
they'll linger always.

Tell me.
Will you hold my hand again?
Don't make me feel your love
only in my dreams.
