Only If You Could See... Poem by Shilpa Shastry

Only If You Could See...

Rating: 5.0

The newborn baby’s trustful hand
that entwined his mother’s fingers;
The first crush in college
whose memory still lingers.

The sunflower which turned
towards the sun;
The soured relationships
waiting to be undone.

The smacking hot coffee
in the pouring rains;
The hope for freedom
for those in chains.

Grandma’s tears for Grandpa
when he is ill;
The gentle breeze that
pushes the windmill.

The skipping of heartbeat
on a first date;
The couple’s patchup sealed with a smile
After a heated debate.

The brother’s restraining hands
While crossing the road;
The helping arm
Willing to share the load.

The sudden gush of emotions
when you spot an old friend;
Or during crisis
someone coming as Godsend.

The sparkle in the eyes
seeing the surprise b’day cake;
Or for the child to sleep
mother keeping awake.

Life is as beautiful
as it could be,
Love is everywhere
only if you could see!
