One Way To Look At It Poem by Leo C. Jones

One Way To Look At It

Rating: 5.0

On a folded piece of crumpled paper,
Torn from a notebook,
Was a hasty mess.

Again, on this garbage
Placed on my desk,
Were the words
'I'd like for you to know'.
Faded probably by erases
Smudged by let's-do-it-agains
Were the words
'That I find this hard to say'.
On some parts with holes
And rips and tears
Were the words
'But I hope you don't mind so'.
On ink-blotted parts
And pen-scratched lines
Were the words
'Because I tried it anyway'.
I squint my eyes at
The small-written lines, shyly scribbled
Were the words
'The way you smile and look'.
The next ones large and unruly
Nervously written
Were the words
'Gets me by surprise, it's true'.
The next line the ink changes color
Smooth again
Were the words
'All the trouble that I took'.
On the part of the page that was wet
Drops of water, I don't know
Were the words
'Just to say the words 'I love you''

I scowl at thin-air
Aimed at whoever was the doer
How could anyone dare
To leave my desk with litter?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Well obviously it's about a love letter.
I wrote it because it's what goes on in my mind when I plan to tell a girl that I like her.
