One October Morn' Poem by Zachary Morrow

One October Morn'

It was a Monet like sky this morn',

Beneath it was a most magnificent display,

Autumn, in her full glory,

Displaying every shade of red, green and yellow,

I was so entranced at the sheer grandeur of it all,

I felt my heart swell and a warmth run through my body,

I had never been so encapsulated in the majesty of Nature.

The feeling so overwhelmed me, it brought tears to my eyes.

I tried to recall any other time I had been,

So encapsulated, so awe struck, so wonder struck.

As I walked a bit further, I rounded the corner,

And amongst a grove of trees, I saw a lone tree,

With just a few red colored leaves left on one branch.

Straining under the weight of the morning dew,

Striving to live to for one more day!

Trying to show that it is still worthy of not! being cut down.

I found myself relating to that lone tree,

In that, did I have only a few leaves left in me?

Was I worthy of not being cut down?

The only difference I found,

Was that the tree yearned for life,

And I, not so much.

So I wondered just how many more?

Monet like skies we would see.

Oh October. sweet, sweet October, you have given me a most splendid morn'.
