One More Day Poem by June Curtis

One More Day

Rating: 4.7

My face red and my feet brown
Can’t get me out of bed today
My week - cycle of trivia and
All I think of is the tomorrow
That never comes and the yesterday that never leaves
Today? What of today?
Just more time to happiness delay

How long is a piece of string,
And how strong that rope?
What about that knife sitting there,
How keen its blade, how keen my mind.
How keen my body to escape this place.
These years felt but not lived.
Future haunting, dancing in the gloom like the stars
An illusion from pollution.

My thoughts unclear and these words here
Can’t get me to sleep tonight.
I hope tomorrow’s answers outweigh
My questions, circling as I write.

Darkness, bright melancholy....excellent self - atonement but also determination from and against....life's mysteries?
