One Dissenting Voice Poem by Francis Duggan

One Dissenting Voice

The one seen as special and looked on as great
That the masses feel happy to celebrate
Is not everyone's favourite you will hear one say
That one not the best not to me anyway
In the eyes of many you may look supreme
And everyone loves you or so it does seem
And at the mention of your name many do rejoice
But there always is that one dissenting voice
The greatest to many is not the greatest to all
One better you are bound to hear someone recall
There is one far greater you'll hear someone say
That's life one must suppose for life is that way
The greatest to many may be the majority choice
But always there is that one dissenting voice.
