Once Upon A Time, I Was...Not Now Poem by Unwritten Soul

Once Upon A Time, I Was...Not Now

Rating: 5.0

I was innocent, maybe now I don't
because when they've killed me, I still survive
because when they deny my past, I still run for future
But ironically, you're my denied past

My heart, tougher than diamond
but price as cheap as blood
because without it I m not alive
because without it I lost my breath

This heart,
My heart, tougher than diamond
but with the price of blood you paid
Your words stab and by your act, I suffered
That's how you stole my breaths, for years

My heart, tougher than diamond
But effortlessly you broke it
for each time it cracked, I healed it
and each time it healed, in tears
Till it flows and washed away names
Ironically, now you are my denied past

I was innocent, maybe now I am not
I was surrendering to the unknown path,
Believing as if that past is a shadow that never exists
As I've been fooled bright future is not in front

I can be who whatever you said
but I chose to bleed instead
so if really my life is yours
you won't survive
so if this heart is mine
I'll be free, I'll try to revive

My heart, tougher than diamond
But effortlessly you broke it

My heart not made of diamond
There is my whole soul inside

When you hold my heart to break it
Then you won't find me inside it
Because of my soul for you
Will be forever unwritten
Forever unwritten
Someone beyond what you can see
The one, true me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was written when i have some flash back of past, knowing how much i changed to another person then again searching to fit in and return to root but much more different now. All scars of past that no one knows during growing up, how people make me hate myself and at one point thinking i feel worthless to live and faking living a happy life for long...and then before finally i found myself. I write this because i know there is always time in most of us that we found we are broken, if we slipped then we wont survive. It just some way i can share...we will lost if we never know ourselves, because no one knows us better than ourselves. God knows!

when they've killed me, i still survive because when they deny my past, i still run for future- - - - - - - - - - I have never seen so much expressed in so few words. You inspire both a heart's response to these words but also a soul's response and a mind's reasoning response to this destructive bent in society and in certain unpleasant individuals. We should all tae these words for our motto, our mantra, our prayer! Exceedingly well done, Soul. 10 +++++++++++++

'My heart, tougher than diamond But effortlessly you broke it' - effortlessly you have described how it felt! 'friends like all of you are the best thing to have while surviving a lifetime test' - so nicely said! Liked your reply to Muhammad Ali's comment.

Let me revisit this lovely poem once more. Through self discovery we feel tender heart, love an expression. Heart shines like diamond in innocence. We think about future. God's grace remains behind us. This is definitely very interesting poem shared here..10
