Once I Have Been To A Distant Land Poem by Jafar sadique K.K.

Once I Have Been To A Distant Land

Once I have been to the distant land

to witness the mounts grown to the heights,

where the sky halts at the reach of hand

and the moon ascends in flaming lights,

divided by faith and fence

along the pickets placed in certain distance

as to guard the people in valley

when the enemy comes in alley.

I crept following the men in row

towards the check point placed in snow.

it was the people reared in awe

and wool coats what I saw

all the same in every place and race

sticking life in the narrow space

between the ends a trigger can reach

I stepped back in silence through a hatch

and wandered in snow that started to melt.

It was mere fear I felt

In a journey set off in the crack of dawn,

to calm my mind and soul down.
