On The Passing Of Den Joe Kelleher Poem by Francis Duggan

On The Passing Of Den Joe Kelleher

Rating: 5.0

Sad news out of Millstreet Town for to read of today
Den Joe Kelleher of the Station Road from life has passed away
Grieved by his children and grandchildren and Breeda his devoted wife
And the many friends he made in Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra in his long life

One of the most likeable of people in old Millstreet Town
In his working years all of the roadways of the Cork Kerry border he drove up and down
Den Joe was a man who was very well known
And over the decades his friends in numbers had grown

In Millsrreet Town he was born and raised and in Millstreet he grew old
It is of men like he was stories are written and told
The last breath of life from his body may have gone
But in all who knew and knew of him good memories of him will live on

Of his truck driving days he had some great stories to tell
And a book on his life many copies would sell
A memorable character who was well known beyond Millstreet
People like Den Joe was everyday one does not meet

That life's journey ends for all of us only true to say
In the old Cemetery at Drishane his last remains lay
He had lived many Seasons before time became his foe
In Millsreet Town there will never again be one like Den Joe.

As follows: Denis Joseph (Den Joe) Kelleher passed away Sunday,15 September 2019. He is survived by his wife Breeda (Brigid) (Nee Vaughan) , daughter, Anna. and sons, Joseph and Timothy. Following a viewing and a Requiem Mass, he will be buried in Old Drishane Graveyard, Millstreet Town. May he rest in Peace.
