On The Outside Still Poem by Shalom Freedman

On The Outside Still

Rating: 5.0

On the outside still
After all the years
Of trying to belong
On the outside still
And forever-

Belonging and yet not quite belonging

An old man
Watching the others dance
And hobbling his own little participation

Alone and yet not alone
Belonging somewhat
Singing with all his soul
His voice unheard
In the cacophony

An old man
Still.
