On Somebody's Loss Poem by Francis Duggan

On Somebody's Loss

It was and it is and will always remain
That somebody's loss is another's gain
If you wish to know why this should be
You better ask someone more knowledgeable than me
And though losing is something anyone does not choose
For one to win big many have to lose
That the majority of the wealth of the World is owned by the greedy few
Is not saying anything that is in any way new
The praises of the reaper of lives anyone does not sing
Though the one who wields the scythe of death equality to humanity bring
There is no inequality where dead people lay
Death is the equalizer in truth one can say
Though among the living the fact does remain
That somebody's loss becomes another's gain.
