On Loneliness Poem by Ayan Dasgupta

On Loneliness

You are so alone
And in fact fact we both are;
Yet the pulsating circle of individuality
Doesn't mean to bring us together -

Loneliness can also be rewarding
In the sun and the rain
Like the company of friends
To whom you slowly got accustomed to

Loneliness, you can't gorge
Neither can you consume it at one go
Give it some time
And with each passing day
It is seasoned with age...

Roast it over slow fire
And turn carefully till evenly cooked -
It eventually shows its color.
Believe in its luster
And it shines like a metal,
A metal of a completely new kind -
Your very own.
