Henry Lawson may be in the long forever gone
But his poems and his stories today living on
Today in Australia he remains a writer of note
A wonderful writer of stories and a marvellous poet

Henry Lawson did not give himself an easy life
Due to his addiction to alcohol divorced by his wife
But even the modern literary critics of the Australia of today
Say that he was one with words who did have a way

That he lived his writing happens to be true
And credit for this it is only his due
His amazing stories and memorable rhyme
By many read and enjoyed despite the passing of time

To poverty from the heights of success and fame
Yet his today remains a great literary name
That true greatness lives on is not a lie
In his poems and his stories Lawson will never die

Far more than an average story teller or an ordinary poet
Henry Lawson he was a great wordsmith of note
His poems and his stories are widely read today
True genius lives on as the wise one does say.
