On A Tree Poem by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mukhopadhyaya

On A Tree

I saw two birds on a tree

An owl and a nightingale

quarreling with one another

It seems that their quarrel

will never end

But just as husband a wife

never part from each other

so the birds will never

give up one another

One stands for emotion

another for reason

one stands for day

another for night

one stands for laughter

another foor tears

And there is a thirs bird

espying them from topmost twig

of another tree
