On A Confused Branch Of A Tree

Rating: 5.0

On a confused branch of a tree
Sits a magpie with alert eyes.
Its eyes are always alert
Even when no danger is nearby.
The worm in its beak is already dead
Now the dead waits for the autopsy
And the inevitable journey to the bird’s intestine.
The tree is all wet from yesterday’s rain
And its branches are confused like a teenager.
They are not sure about the exact direction to move
They grow out in all possible directions.
We human beings have a different plight
We can only grow up and we get stuck midway-
Somewhere along the line.
We are limited; we can’t extend our hands too far.
That’s why we can’t help people beyond a point
Our arms are not as confused as the branch of a tree
We are sure about the limitations and we are not free.
