Of Sorrow Or Of Regret Poem by Jeffrey Febi

Of Sorrow Or Of Regret

All moisture evaporated
As a spicy reaction invades his throat
This sting, an odd sensation of bitterness
The discomforting feeling of downing saliva
His throat, for water dearly begs
A shocking realisation of truth
For what, only he knows

Blinding mists of dark shades
His sight blocks
This sudden darkening of day
It's gloomy
Silent tears, in steady pace gather
And sparkled like water under a fading moon
Casting a dim ray of emotion into the gloom

Alas!
The fountains have been busted
And there is flow. Flow they did
Like rainfall from the clouds

How terrible, how tragic this news
Wail he did, yell he did
His lips he bit, his hair he pulled

The promise to pay a visit
Still locked away with dust
This dress in a hastily wrapped parcel

“Deferred? ”

“Attending a party with colleagues
Next weekend; I promise mom!
Have an important job appointment
Next month; I will make it up to you! ”

Into the busy world, absorbed you are
Oblivious to the flight imminent
How does it feel to know?
You can’t make it up to her now
Why do you cry?
Of sorrow or of regret?
