Ode To Poe

Solitary Wine
Or Rock,
Which time has been forgot?
By phantoms that
doth not glow-
frenzied nex' to Poe.
Upon that holy grave
Where shadows long
to lay,
near that demonic Rock
(the Wine is but a draught!)
my thirst has been diminished-
(my thirst hath been diminished!)

poet Alfred Lord Tennyson

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
