Ode To Chemistry Poem by Cynthia Onukwugha

Ode To Chemistry

Your bipolar chemicals
Gives me an organic reaction
Oh Chem, one I love
Come hither and fill
My graduated cylinder.

On the twenty-third day of October
Precisely at six zero two on the dot
Take me away to Avagadro’s Island
And convert me into my molecular particles.

You can be my Magnesium
And I can be your Oxygen
Together, we will be the perfect compounds
While I combust your element.

Oh Chem, one I love
Slip away not now
Your scientific method corrodes me
And your homogeneous air
Intoxicates me on thee

Oh Chem, you remain a mystery
I shall not forget your Bunsen
Which burns my buret with love.
