Ode To A Wayward Toad Poem by Stefan Splawinski

Ode To A Wayward Toad

begotten by a primeval swamp
creatures of amphibious mode
prehistories treasured relics
testimony to the warty toad

frogs and newts are strange
set betwixt water and land
their time come and now gone
since emerging from the sand

God bless this ugly triton
before you take to the road
forget your alcohol level
and down one for the toad
