O' Malevolence

By the knots
in the tails
o' the cat-o'-nine-tails,
the stripping into crosses
o' the skin o' backs
becomes more malevolently appalling.

By the barnacles
that buttocks
and backs scrape o'er,
more malevolent
become acts
o' keelhauling.

O' greatest malevolence though,
say no more,
is barnacles and knots
to the fore.
