Numb Poem by emmanuelle sanders

Numb

Right from the start, you already said
That you'll be there in times that I dread.
I foolishly believed, for evident it is the cause
From the way you delivered it, without any flaws.

Yes, you're approachable, and I'd seen that,
When problems arise, you're the first to say 'What? '
Then you'll mesmerize me with your advice and all.
Truly, you were there when I'll call.

But as time goes on, I've noticed something strange.
I might sound weird, but I think you've changed.
You never seem to care, not even a bit,
Not even when you heard that I wanted to quit.

Maybe it's because I've abused my right
To tell you every problem and every fight.
Maybe I've said something offensive to you,
And that blew your mind off too.

Or maybe you've found out what I once feel,
The weird sensation that isn't real.
I'm just telling you, this won't happen again.
But a question still remains: When?

When will you be there when I'm in need;
And will you appreciate my every good word and deed?
I'll be standing here, waiting in the cold
Until you'd reply, or 'til this country's sold.
