Nuggets Of Wisdom. No.4. On Restraint

Rating: 5.0

PRACTISE RESTRAINT

Like it or not, at times we have to lose
But don’t fret you are caught in a noose

When you know you are no longer in the scene
Of a promotion due of which you were so keen

Or feel you didn’t get your due
After all the troubles gone through

Or learn that you have been terribly ditched
By someone on whom all hopes were pitched

Don’t be in a rush to react
For fierce could be its impact

Without at once yelling at the unfairness of all
And blasting out all your resentment withal

Wait till your anger is cooled
And your dejection slowly ebbed

No one likes you venting your spleen
Or looking at others with eyes green

When angry, you are sure to say more than you mean
And tend to create, nevertheless an ugly scene

It can be so much fodder for the rumour mills
That is worse than slow poison which eventually kills

Peppered with a lot more than what you said
And your mistakes twice doubled than what you did

Your blistering and scorching tirade
May come back to blast you like a grenade

So let RESTRAINT be your buzz word
To prevent life from going blurred!

ANOTHER PEARL FROM YOUR CASKET, VALSA, ! Your first four couplets exactly portrayed my very situation which I underwent in my fifties in my official career! I didn't vent my spleen, and didn't look others with eyes green- ne'er said a word, and as you said took RESTRAINT as my buzz word and am still friends with the one who ditched me taking EVERY THING as GOD'S DECREE! An excellent poem in your usual rhyme scheme is greatly appealing!

In our everyday life we always face tests in life that may determine and shape our character as an individual. The imposition of RESRAINT on oneself in extreme cases of anger and high emotions is an extraordinary effort.

To prevent life from going blurred we need the power of wisdom in practice in life. Anger can be cooled and nothing can be loosed like patience. With much patience we can wait and being stable we can judge well. No mistakes can be committed anymore while we are in wisdom. A great message is transferred through this excellently penned poem...10
