Nowruz is a festival of new spring,
Of daylight spring,
A holiday for Zoroastrians,
A celebration of renewal and rebirth.
The day the sun crosses
the celestial equator,
Bringing victory annually,
for the spirit in a glorious coming,
that helps one visit and spread a carpet,
a cover for love.
Sharing comes to the fore, ourselves as sisters and brothers
A donor-ship which is rounded on the Persian household table.
Thus around the carpet and table all gather.
Through it a cloth,
of all seven of seven.
All with, sabzeh, samanu, seeb
Senjed, seer, somaq sumac berries and serkeh.
Of many dishes,
a gift-ship.
It's Cherubs herald life- births
and more blessings on us
for a better world
a burdenfree peaceful place for you and me.
*Sabzeh (wheat, barley, mung bean or lentil sprouts growing in a dish - symbolizing rebirth
*Samanu (sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolizing affluence
*Senjed (- dried Persian olive - symbolizing love
*Seer - garlic - symbolizing the medicine and health
*Seeb- apple - symbolizing beauty
*Somāq - sumac fruit - symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
*Serkeh - vinegar - symbolizing old-age and patience
