Nothing Is Free Poem by Frank Adie

Nothing Is Free

Rating: 5.0

Nothing is Free

My son,
There is so much dignity in paying your bills
Don't take pride in enjoying what cost you nothing.
Anything you get for free, you really don't deserve it.
The fruit is sweeter, when it is the product of ones labour.

Nothing in life is totally free,
Whatever cost you nothing, cost someone else something,
Take pride in giving rather than receiving,
When you receive you bow to the giver,
But when you give the receiver bows to you.

Strive to enjoy the accolades of giving,
And abhor the genuflection that goes with receiving
Accolades is a product of hard work and sacrifice.
Work hard to earn a living, and take pride in living within your earnings.
