Nothing At All! Poem by Eric Cockrell

Nothing At All!

Rating: 5.0

woodsmoke,
frozen breath hangs,
time suspended...

the old neighborhood store
closed, building abandoned
to the rats...

a broke down Chevy,
a tent blown by the wind.
children hunched shiver,

the fire crackles and spits,
trucks race by going nowhere...
snow flurries, cracked lips.

a can of tomatoes, corn,
and green beans...
a couple potatoes,

the pot boiling slow..
'we the people' lost,
out of sync with time...

the six o'clock news
says nothing at all!

America and the twenty first century frozen in time. The six o clock news says nothing at all. Well conceived, skillfully articulated.
