Not The Way You Think Poem by Richard Ikolo

Not The Way You Think

At times, it goes very stinky and sour
At Other times, it blooms like a flower
In sweet seasons, unending smooth smiles
In antagonistic atmosphere, unending sighs

What has gone wrong again?
Who saves me from this pain?
Why this recurring decimal?
How long shall I remain dismal?

For better or for worse, my vow
I cannot help it, but to bow
In sun or rain, I'll bear
Forever I'll give my care

It's a continuous learning process
For you to achieve a huge success
Your self-will status must be buried
A lifetime lesson for the married!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Marriage has its pains and gains, its ups and downs. For some seconds, minutes, hours or even days, it could go sour and stinky. But love brings back its sweetness. It's an ever-learning process; a school without graduates. The highest honour obtained is patience or perseverance. Then the profits follow.Don't contemplate divorce. Don't ponder on separation. Don't fail; pass the tests and the exams.Just overlook and carry on.Don't put a full stop in your marriage where God has not put one. Together make it work!
