Nomsa Poem by Felicity Nong

Nomsa

She like childhood sand
Giggles like perpetual tickles
My friend without confinement
Of time space or background.

She brought into my life
Laughter like school holidays
Thousands of smiles and a billion words
Cape Town and the whole coast came tagging along

Often times challenging my life
But mostly helping me iron out
The very creases of my badly wrinkled living.

Me, confined by silence
She, by fears of abandonment
Both, products of broken homes.

She comes with the knowledge of freedom
That’s found in God, discovering yet still confused
I hold on to her God who is becoming mine
And visions of freedom that’s becoming a reality….finally.
