No Wonder

Though life and death is in God’s hand
All power’s in His word
We disobey each royal command
Living a life absurd

Why else has flesh on earth to die?
Why is the curse abroad?
Warring against our God on high
The flesh wields high the sword

Yet deep inside the truth is known
We hear God’s guiding voice
We disrespect our father’s throne
We make hell’s ways our choice

We spit upon Salvation’s face
Treading the darkest path
We toss aside God’s saving grace
To suffer awesome wrath

Wherever in life there is no root
Where branches fail to be
We can’t expect to yield good fruit
Nor see a thriving tree

The fruit we bear from lying lips
Each deed endorsed to shame
These shadows from a mind eclipse
Blaspheme Salvation’s name

Yet these we lay at Jesus’ feet
A stench to God on high
No wonder when God’s wrath we greet
No wonder people die

To God we need to give our best
Seek Jesus’ face above
Then see if not the world is blessed
Through Jesus’ perfect love
