the air was warm
but the breeze was cool.
Just cool enough
to let you breathe.
I jumped out of
his green truck
and hurried along my way.
I noticed her car
in the parking lot.
'Good she's home.
I won't get locked out'
I walked inside.
The building was stuffy
and the smell burned
my nose.
With all the combinations
of filth mixed
together.
Regular apartment smells.
I walked up the stairs
stood infront of my door.
my stomach dropped
I knew something was aloof.
I pushed it aside
and knocked on the door.
I heard moving inside
I waited a moment
nobdy stirred.
'maybe she is sleeping'
Knocked harder and louder.
Silence filled the air.
I put my ear to the door.
silence.
then...
movement.
'I know your home
and I know your awake'
i sat there for a few.
trying to figure
out what to do.
I had nowhere to go
my clothes were inside.
'Ill knock all night'
I straightened my back
raised my fist and
knocked, knocked
again.
impaitently, unmercilessly
till I heard the dog bark and
'Ill let her her in'
'Damn right you will'
The door creaked open.
I knew I was unwelcome.
easy mac. clothes. quick phone call.
and I was out the door.
